Sonerila sp. is a unique plant belonging to the Melastomataceae family. It originates from the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia, where it naturally grows in moist, shady areas on the forest floor, forming striking clusters with distinctive, spotted foliage.
Appearance
The plant stands out for its spectacular, intensely green leaves with distinctive silvery spots and patterns that create a decorative effect. Its compact habit makes it perfect for terrariums, paludariums, and as a groundcover. Thanks to its unique, spotted foliage, Sonerila maculata creates a striking, colorful structure.
Requirements
- Light: diffused to partial shade – avoids direct sun
- Substrate: permeable, constantly moist, rich in humus
- Air humidity: 70–100% – requires very high humidity
- Watering: regular, the substrate should be constantly moist
- Temperature: optimal 20–26 °C
